Elvis Music Motivation: “There’s A Brand New Day on the Horizon”

Music Monday:
Music Monday:

Hello world! Here we are again in another week of “what day is it.” Here at Moody Blue Blog, I am dedicated to celebrating Elvis and creating the next generation of Elvis fans. This is what gets me excited each week – especially since Moody Blue Blog is all I really have going for me right now. An entire life focused on writing about Elvis? (If only that made me money!)

Another week another Monday. In each passing day, it might be difficult to find motivation. With a little help from our friend Elvis, we can realize “There’s a Brand New Day on the Horizon!” Let’s examine the lyrics to an Elvis song that might bring us comfort during this time. This Monday Music Motivation, we are going to take a close look at the song “There’s A Brand New Day on the Horizon!”

This song is the closing number to Elvis’s sixteenth film, Roustabout. Throughout the film, Elvis’s character struggles, as does the carnival he is employed at (maybe a little too close to home for many of us right now.) But that’s the point. Even after all the challenges, Elvis and the carnival are able to push past their obstacles and see that not all hope is lost.

Now, let’s take a look at the lyrics written by Joy Byers:

There’s a brand new day on the horizon, everything’s gonna be just fine. There’s a brand new day on the horizon and the whole world’s gonna be mine

I’m gonna tell old trouble, he’s better be moving on. Happiness is going to take his place around here from now on. The old dark clouds are gonna roll away, the sun is gonna shine, and the whole world is gonna be mine.

I’m gonna tell old heartaches, pack his bags and go. I’ve decided that I don’t want him hanging around no more. Don’t you know I said everything’s gonna be just fine ’cause the whole world’s gonna be mine.

I know my luck’s gonna change, just you wait and see. Startin’ tomorrow only good things in life are going to come to me. There’s a brand new day on the horizon and the whole world’s gonna be mine.

There is no real way to know what to expect today, tomorrow, or in the near future. There is no way to predict the changes that will happen due to the current situation of the world. That being said, there is a way that we can look at the smaller picture. In most cases, it is important to look at the big picture to have a better understanding of something. With the current situation, this could cause more stress, fear, anger, etc. Focus on yourself, your family, your friends, your coworkers, and do what is best for you. Try not to focus too much on everything else happen. Allow yourself to feel the gravity of the situation, but use that as a way to focus on the good happening in your life OR to make good happen in your life.

Finding the positive in this situation is nearly impossible, but look at these lyrics, listen to this song, and find motivation to get you through this week or even just through today. There is a brand new day on the horizon, no matter how hard today might be, tomorrow is a brand new day – Elvis himself said that!

Take care of yourselves and stay safe!

Until we meet again,
